Nexiform: Changing The World, One Tile At A Time

Nexiform
  • Exciting news, local company Nexiform Limited, launched their innovative Splashback product at this year's Grand Designs Live show at Excel, London from May 4 -12, 2013.
  • Over the last eight years, Julie and Paul Langston have been developing the process and company they call Nexiform, in South Wales. Nexiform is a small business that has developed a cold cured tile for domestic and commercial use made from 85% recycled content. The tile is finished with a custom design to create unique splashbacks, shower walls and other applications.
  • With a history in hand painted ceramics, which required virgin materials and a great deal of heat use(and therefore energy). Nexiform came about from Paul and Julie's belief that eco-friendliness and sustainability would be the key to any future business.
  • WRAP Cymru have been very supportive of the company and nominated Nexiform for last year's Europa Innova, Eco-Innovation award for the best product made from waste and recycled materials, both here in the UK and in Europe, which was won by Nexiform.
  • The company chose this prestigious show to launch their Splashback product and also reveal their new product ranges for both the UK and Europe.
  • The company was looking for an ideal venue to showcase their current splashback product and also their new, Glitter, Metallic, and Natural Stone ranges, not only revealing to the public the beauty of the Nexiform product but also the truly ground breaking scale at which Nexiform can manufacture this product , the largest piece to date is a 2000 x 900 slab.
  • Managing Directors - Paul and Julie Langston said - "The product itself has been a long time in the making.  Bringing any product of this nature to market requires much research and commitment. With our initial efforts going into the Kitchen splashback product, it was felt that the time was right to bring the new products to market and widen Nexiform's push into other markets."
  • Nexiform has also attracted positive attention and support from the Welsh Assembly Government, who are keen to help businesses who are addressing the sustainability issue. Speaking on "Green growth through resource efficiency" the  Assembly were informed that:
  • "Nexiform, based in Ammanford, is a small company that received support from WRAP to develop a domestic tile made almost entirely from recycled materials. The tile is cold cured, so its manufacturing process is much less energy intensive than traditional ceramic tiles. The tile is also substantially lighter than similar products, which has had positive impacts on transportation costs and CO2 impacts. This is a high end product offering bespoke design options to customers. Overall all the product is cheaper to produce and has reduced environmental impacts across the value chain than a traditional tile - it's also recyclable through closed loop methods."
  • "Over 700 tonnes of recycled materials will be used in the Nexiform tile, which would otherwise have gone to landfill. We envisage creating new jobs and an increase in turn over," said Paul Langston.
  • The Grand Design's launch was a great success ,with over 400 positive customers and much trade interest plus interest from all over the world. The product has a vital place in the global market, in terms of being environmentally friendly, there is nothing else like it.
  • Julie Langston had a chance meeting with Kevin McCloud at the exhibition, and showed him the product, he was very interested and said he would follow our progress on.
  • As designers Paul and Julie offer a bespoke service as well as the current range of traditional to contemporary.
  • As Paul and Julie say, we are "changing the world, one tile at a time". However they never dreamt that the opportunity would come to re-invent the ceramic tile.
  • With a strong customer base including such famous names as, Avec Cookers, Everhot, Fabulous Kitchens, to name but a few, and with recent additions such as Rosemary Shrager's Cookery School and the Designer Guild, the company goes from strength to strength.  An innovative and stylish product invented, designed and manufactured in Wales, making Britain - Great!
