Scandinavian specialist Great Dane is opening a new showroom at 175-179 Johnston Street, Fitzroy in March 2012. The showroom will showcase new contemporary pieces from Scandinavian masters of design in a format that has cemented Great Dane's reputation as a unique and forward thinking retailer.

The spacious new showroom will focus on a completely new generation of designer talent. With a strong tradition of architects these contemporaries are applying their aesthetic and functional eye to new pieces of furniture and design. Scandinavia is ripe with designer talent - which Great Dane is proud to bring to Australia.
Norm Architects is an example of such talent; a team of young designers who ascribe to the Scandinavian modernist traditions while demanding something new. Great Dane will stock Norm's innovative and distinctive 'Raft' table and stools, which are available for both for the kitchen bench and casual dining table and combine the beauty and warmth of oak, with the cool modern feel of painted steel.
Likewise, Great Dane is stocking the innovative and flexible 'Sunday Sofa', with its ingenious modular design that can be specified in a captivating collection of colours and various interchangeable shapes and sizes - ideal to share the perfect Sunday with your family. (the Great Dane client can relax in the Sunday sofa in our showroom whilst creating their own perfect Sunday sofa on the specifically designed Sunday Ipad application).
The new 'Shark Dining' table is an example of the fresh new direction that Great Dane is taking. It can be ordered with a choice of either a Corian top, oak, or walnut and Corian. With its crisp, clean lines it becomes a true statement piece in any modern home. The Corian is a fantastic choice of material as its durable and easy to maintain and clean, the perfect table for any growing, modern family.
Australian customers will also be treated to worldwide exclusives at Great Dane in 2012, including an exclusive collection of tall boys and low boys by Arne Vodder, manufactured by Great Dane in Denmark.
Then there is the Hans Wegner bedside table, which is exclusively produced by Getama Denmark for Great Dane, available in oak and walnut retailing from $1,250.
Great Dane Company Director, Anton Assaad uses his profound understanding of Scandinavian design and designers to secure these worldwide exclusives of furniture, lighting and accessories for the home. The products will all be available in the new Great Dane Fitzroy Showroom, as well as in the existing showrooms in Prahran, Melbourne and Redfern, Sydney.
