Corner Sliding Door 30 Apr 2012
New Inventions and European Trends on Windows and Doors

Paarhammer Pty Ltd

At a recent visit to the world's largest Window Fair at Nuremberg in Germany, Paarhammer found exciting new products and technologies which they are now introducing to the Australian market.

Some of these new products will be launched at the Building and Home Improvement Expo in Melbourne, 15th to 17th of July.

Narrow tall windows that pivot vertically for ventilation and cleaning, or windows which open by projecting parallel to the outside of the building are just some of the architecturally interesting new window solutions.

Another popular product are sliding doors opening up from a corner without vertical mullion. This is easy to achieve if you don't need high energy ratings. But we found different possibilities for an airtight fit, providing top energy ratings.

Façades are coming in a big way in Europe, constructed of timber with aluminium cover on the outside and fitted with double or triple glazing. Whole walls of buildings are replaced by energy efficient and clever glass. Such a timber construction works like a puzzle and can have fixed glass, windows and doors as well as solid sections.

Interesting for architects may also be windows where from the outside you only see glass without a frame. Often the glass has a dark tint to fit with modern buildings. These windows are mostly installed flash with the outside wall to give a continuous look.
