Intelligent Furniture has added a new model to its website, the Berlin Powerdesk. The Berlin is a contemporary single pedestal Powerdesk with a real oak veneer. It has an introductory spring promotion of £350 off the RRP.

The Powerdesk concept offers the first true solution to the problem of the big PC tower case and trailing wires in people's space, by hiding these inside the desk out of sight and placing the world's first true Remote Control for a PC in the desk's worksurface. This means there's no clutter, mess or trip hazards in the user's space, creating beautiful, ergonomic, clutter-free, theft-proof computing.

Powerdesks are fitted with the Freemote, a remote control for a PC. Freemote is a slim unit which duplicates all the controls needed to operate the PC (on/off switch, USB ports, headphone and mic ports, CD/DVD drive and operating lights) and sits in the desk's worksurface, enabling the industry-standard PC and all its cables to be hidden away invisibly inside the dead space of the desk (usually behind the drawers or in a slim cupboard at the back).

Intelligent Furniture's range of Powerdesks use regular Dell PCs, which come with Dell's 3 year onsite warranty, though any modern PC can be used. We can also fit customers' own PCs (as long as they are under 3 years old, have a spare PCI slot and fit in the allocated space within the desk). Powerful home-theatre sound systems are built into the desks, enabling the user to listen to music or watch TV/DVDs.

The Nemo is a simple, stylish desk available in beech (light wood) or wenge (dark wood). It has a hutch on the desktop, under which the keyboard can be stored when not in use, and the Freemote sits in the right hand brushed aluminium pedestal. The Sentinel is a modern, elegant desk available in oak and aluminium finish. It has 2 soft-close fully-functional drawers and a hutch on the desktop, and the Freemote sits in the right hand brushed aluminium pedestal. The Sentinel measures 1255mm W x 720mm D x 795mm H and costs £1400

The Lima is a beautiful mahogany writing table with a green or red leathered top, 2 fully functional drawers with elegant brass swandrop handles, and stately carved motifs on the legs. The Lima measures 1300mm W x 762mm D x 765mm H and costs £1900

The Berlin is a high-quality single-pedestal desk with a real wood oak veneer. It has a wide drawer with fold down front flap perfect for keyboard and mouse and the pedestal houses one false drawer, one regular drawer and a large printer drawer with hinged door and sliding wooden ledge to house the printer. The Berlin measures 1350mm W x 740mm D x 800mm H and costs £1250. Spring promotion of -£350 applies, meaning price is currently £900 (including PC)

About Freemote The Freemote is a sleek, elegant unit which can be placed at the front of any worksurface and provides access to the key controls of the PC, allowing the computer to be hidden within the void space of any desk. Freemote duplicates the key controls of the PC, i.e. on/off switch, USB ports, headphone & mic ports, optical drive and operating lights – and puts them within the thickness of the workstation, at the user's fingertips.

Freemote can be used with virtually any modern industry standard PC without infringing the onsite warranty provided by the PC manufacturer. This ensures that the PC is fully upgradeable at any time.
