Always Sunday Store has opened its new premises at 9 Broad Street in Bath offering a unique range of homeware and enabling you to recreate that Always Sunday feeling in your own home.
Taking lockdown in its stride, the Always Sunday Store team used the time to reinvent its in-store experience, which includes the welcome addition of Perk - a new and dynamic coffee hub for those who like to recharge during a spot of retail therapy.
The idea of the Store evolved from the legendary Supper Clubs at Founder Lexi Dart's home, which was the beginning of the Always Sunday concept. Local artists' work was exhibited at these events and available to buy, which proved popular, and guests started to ask to purchase items from the table. The team decided to try a Christmas pop-up in the house to gauge the demand and its success gave them the answer they needed.
The purpose of the Store developed as another avenue to showcase creative concepts and artists, creating revenue to support collaborations and residencies of artists to design for Always Sunday. Known for championing the local and creative communities, one of Store Manager Bella Reynolds' discoveries was local potter Liz Vidal. They worked together to make some custom colour ways and Liz has gone from strength to strength, now selling to TOAST.
A shopping experience at Always Sunday Store will see you discover exciting, new and independent designers. The emphasis is on creating collections curated from all corners of the creative world, showing customers rewarding ways to bring meaningful items into their own homes and lives. For example, Lexi and Bella met Jørn at a Paris trade show. He collects fabrics while travelling and makes them into soft, limited edition accessories such as the Dagny cushions, of which the Store is the only UK stockist.
“We never purchase huge amounts of one specific item because we like to create an environment that is evolving all the time and never stale with large quantities of stock that loses its magic if everyone can have it” Lexi says. “We like to bring a level of individuality to the items we choose by making sure there isn't an overdone amount that means you would walk into somebody else's home and see the same item. We also are showcasing small design finds from artists around the world whom we have sought out.”
Prices in store range from £2 for an oiled acacia salt spoon to £3000 for a fully customisable Recoire London sofa, and there really is something to inspire everyone. Whether you're looking for exclusive British brands, their popular hand-dipped candles or a unique vintage piece, Always Sunday Store is the perfect place to come and explore.
True to its ethos to support and inspire, future plans for the Store include starting a monthly pop-up schedule of local designers to be featured in the front window and having a “kitchen table” to share ideas and work with customers face-to-face. Keep an eye on the website and socials for updates and how to apply!
Always Sunday store is open 7 days a week so visit the store to find that interior gem you are looking for or even discover something you aren't. Either way the magic you feel inside of those four walls will keep you coming back for more. For more information contact tala@monks-squared.com or sophie@monks-squared.com
