On average, British families spend £60 each year for Halloween, which makes a huge total of £466 million per year! However, decorating your home in the run up to Halloween does not have to be expensive or laborious as online DIY giant, manomano.co.uk display in their top 3 DIY tips for Halloween. It just takes a bit of thrifty DIY'ing!

1) Terror On The Walls Spooky shadows can be easily applied to any wall and window with low-cost self-adhesive sets. So smooth and shiny, it looks like it has been painted on. The Halloween ghouls are coming!

Alternatively, why don't you bring out your inner Banksy and spray it….whether on a wall or an old sheet that can be hung up, spray paint is a fun and easy way to create supernatural scenes at home. A brilliantly economical and effective solution!

2) Flowerpot Pumpkin

All that is needed for this is some flower points in varying sizes (big and small), a thick pen to draw faces on with and some shrubbery collected from the garden or a nearby park! Stick a small stick in the hole of the overturned flower pot and draw a spooky pumpkin face on either side. Cheap and very easy!

3) Wire Ghost - to pull all the spooky stops out!!

This one requires a little more patience, but is totally worth it for the end effect of an ethereal character which can be moved around inside and out to freak out unsuspecting victims!!

The tool list is chicken wire mesh, needle nose pliers, a tape measure and work gloves. Work from head to toe to create each body part out of the chicken wire mesh. To create shape definitions in the face and body use the needle nose pliers to snip and manipulate the mesh, as well as for snipping the wire in order to fasten the different body parts together. The tape measure is for measuring each body part out of the mesh. Use the gloves to protect hands from the sharp wire as you're snipping! For an in-depth 'how-to', check link here. A truly impressive DIY stunt that will get spookier as the years go by!
