At the age of twelve Nina Campbell and her mother would be overtaken by an uncontrollable urge after dinner, to rearrange furniture. “Needless to say, halfway through, we'd get exhausted and go to bed, leaving sofas and chairs halfway up the staircase.” This inescapable instinct to beautify, refresh and decorate continues to drive Nina Campbell today having established herself as one of the most influential interior designers in the world.
Nina Campbell's decorating career began at the age of nineteen as assistant to John Fowler of the prestigious Colefax & Fowler, fabric & wallpaper designers. Shortly after, she set up her own decorating business where one of her first commissions was to decorate Cullen House in Banffshire, Scotland.
While she was still working with John Fowler, Nina's elegant and comfortable style punctuated with rich colours and fabrics caught the eye of club owner Mark Birley who asked her to redecorate Annabel's Club and subsequently to decorate Mark's Club. The duo then went on to open their own shop in Pimlico specializing in 'unashamed luxury', such as Porthault linen and Fauchon sweets and where Nina launched her famous 'hearts' print on fabric and china.
Nina went on to establish her business in Walton Street, Knightsbridge where she rapidly developed the fabric printing side of the business and continued to branch out into other decorative areas. Now the Nina Campbell line includes: two fabric, Wallpaper and trimming collections a year distributed internationally through Osborne & Little, furniture through Arthur Brett, carpets through Wool Classics, as well as a distinctive range of home accessories including table linen, home fragrance, gift wrap, blankets and travel accessories. Nina also does a line of home accessories for Stein Mart in the US. The growing Nina Campbell brand encompasses a wholesale aspect and is an incredibly invaluable resource for interior decorators. Nina has also recently appeared in the BBC2 series 'Home' as an authority on interior design.
With a contagious wit and a brilliant sense of personal style (Nina's heart-shaped spectacles have almost become a trademark in themselves) Nina Campbell is a highly creative and successful businesswoman, an author of four books, and a devoted mother of three.
