Brickworks Limited - one of Australia's largest manufacturers and distributors of concrete and clay building products has announced the acquisition of Boral Limited's NSW Masonry operations.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission made the announcement on the 24th of January 2013 that it would not oppose Brickwork's Ltd's acquisition of Boral Ltd's NSW concrete masonry business.

The acquisition took place through Brickworks subsidiary Austral Masonry, and the transaction was completed on the 8th of February 2013.

Managing Director for Brickworks Building Products Mr Lindsay Partridge said, "This acquisition will deliver Austral Masonry significant manufacturing, sales and administrative synergies, and will enable an expanded paving and retaining wall product range to be offered along the East Coast.

"Furthermore, it will provide Brickworks with additional exposure to the expected strong growth in multi-residential construction in New South Wales over the medium term," he added.

In 2006 Brickworks owned one Masonry plant in Dandenong, Victoria. Once the acquisition is complete, Brickworks will be established as the 2nd largest masonry manufacturer nationally, with strong positions in all key East Coast markets," he added.
