IQ Glass are excited to now be able to offer minimal windows designed with extravagant shapes. An astounding architectural glass development which allows limited spaces to be utilised without having to make major compromises.

The latest minimal windows design allows for a shaped head design allowing slim framed sliding glass doors installations to be fitted into angled roofs. As well as having sliding glass doors designed to fit the original angled roof, it is now possible to integrate an angled roof into your new build designs.

“Natural light is an essential part of any home,” explains Gary Davis, Director of IQ Glass. “These shaped systems get rid of dark and gloomy spaces from virtually any building, brightening up your home. The shaped sliding profiles maximises the opening working perfectly with angled roof lines.”

Another method shaped minimal windows can be incorporated is in extensions. Footprints of single storey extensions are usually determined by the space required within the property, the footprint is defined by factors such as the proximity to neighbouring boundaries, the position of existing windows, and its orientation towards light, views and garden area.

The Swallow Drive project saw only a few design styles that would really work without blocking all of the natural light into the garden. However, this meant the design problems with having an angled roof creating an angled aperture. IQ Glass offer a new solution to maximise this space, slim frame sliding glass doors with a 21mm sightline were designed with a shaped head to perfectly fit the space.

The architects involved with the Swallow Drive project explained what shaped minimal windows meant for their project.

“We didn't want just another glass box extension.”

“The biggest design problem is now the most imaginative design solution and adds so much character to this small project.”
