Humanscale Brings Human - Centered Design to San Francisco with New Showroom

Humanscale

Designed with architectSuchi Reddyand featuring Kvadrat, the showroom serves as a vibrant hub for the designcommunity, embodying Humanscale's commitment to thoughtful, sustainable design.

Led by Reddy, the showroom design strategy worldwide is realized through female-led design and constructionteams, prioritizing women-owned and led practices to set a clear standard for inclusive leadership in design.

Humanscale, the global leader in ergonomic design and workplace well-being, announces the opening of its new SanFrancisco showroom, a ground-floor space designed in collaboration with architect Suchi Reddy FAIA, founder ofacclaimed architecture and design firm Reddymade. Located in one of the most important North American markets, theshowroom marks the continued evolution of Humanscale's retail-forward strategy, bringing the brand closer to the designcommunity while redefining how performance-driven products are experienced in real space.

Designed as both a retail environment and a working showroom, the San Francisco space reflects Humanscale's corevalues of comfort, simplicity, sustainability, and movement. Reddy approached the project with a focus on feeling, creating a space that is calm, legible, and intuitive to move through, while allowing the products to remain the visual andexperiential focus.

The showroom offers a layered experience that showcases the full breadth of Humanscale's product families withoutfeeling overwhelming. Open yet intimate zones invite designers to experience seating, sit-stand solutions, and accessoriesin a range of configurations, from focused, enclosed settings to more expansive, collaborative moments. Curved and half-circle forms can be reconfigured to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, emphasizing how Humanscale productsrespond to the human body in motion throughout the day.

Material choices were guided by a commitment to sustainability and restraint. Following a principleof intentionalsimplicity, the design preserves the original concrete flooring and renovates existing glass rather than replacing it.Modular wall systems create functional office moments while maintaining openness and visual continuity. In keeping withHumanscale's commitment to supporting the San Francisco design community, the showroom features modular wallsystems by local startup Modwall, underscoring the brand's investment in emerging, community-driven innovation. Coloris introduced through Kvadrat's Rocket textile, adding warmth and texture while serving as a unifying element across bothneutral and more vibrant areas of the showroom. Furthermore, Kvadrat is featured within the showroom through adedicated, built-out space that highlights the harmony between furniture and textile design.

"Our San Francisco showroom brings the design community together, creating a space to explore Humanscale's productsand materials while fostering connection, conversation, and design innovation,” said Rhys Jones, Associate Creative Director at Humanscale. Architect Suchi Reddy added, “We aimed to create a calm, intuitive space where the productsremain the focus, using subtle, sustainable interventions that reflect Humanscale's philosophy.”

The San Francisco showroom marks the latest chapter in the collaboration between Humanscale and Suchi Reddy, building on a series of international spaces she has designed for the brand in Chicago, Paris, Sydney, and Shanghai. Shaped by San Francisco's culture of sustainability, innovation, and well-being, the showroom functions as both a brandstatement and a community touchpoint.

A defining feature of Reddy's work with Humanscale is the consistent use of female-led design and construction teams. Across locations worldwide, she has prioritized women-owned practices: in Sydney, the Architect of Record was HannahTribe of Tribe Architects; in Shanghai, construction was led by Zoe Li of CJ2; in Chicago, CDI Construction-founded andrun by Laurie Price-oversaw the build; in Paris, Andrea Pereira de Sa of 2SW served as Architect of Record; and in SanFrancisco, the project managementteam at Cushman & Wakefield was led byAshley Hart.By structuring projects thisway, Reddy treats each showroom not just as a finished space, but as a model for how design is commissioned anddelivered, setting a clear, repeatable standard for inclusive leadership in design.

This way of working reflects Humanscale's broader belief that intelligent, minimal design is inherently human: thatrestraint, clarity, and intention, in both process and outcome, create spaces that genuinely support how people live and work today.
