Humanscale, leaders in ergonomic workspace solutions, has worked alongside Broadway Interiors to deliver mission-grade ergonomics for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in Dubai. The facility serves as the Command Control Centre for UAE's flagship space programmes, including the Emirates Mars Mission, Lunar Mission, and the UAE Astronaut Programme.

The challenge was to design a mission-critical environment that supports extended control operations while allowing teams to maintain focus and composure under pressure. The result is a 10,000-square-foot workspace that merges futuristic minimalism with mission-grade ergonomics. An environment featuring a disciplined palette of deep blues, blacks, and metallic tones — a visual language that evokes orbital depth while reducing glare. Every design element, from acoustic panels and ambient lighting to carefully selected materials, was chosen to help people think clearly, work comfortably, and perform at their best, even in the most demanding conditions.

At the heart of this mission-grade space are Humanscale's Freedom and Liberty chairs, essential operational tools to support the human body, encouraging healthy posture during extended periods of concentration and work. The chairs support self-adjusting recline, synchronised armrests, and finishes that align perfectly with the interior. The Freedom chair, designed for executive ergonomic comfort, and the Liberty chair, with mesh-backed flexibility, played critical roles in validating sightlines and console spacing during the prototyping phase, integrating ergonomics and spatial design into the operations of the Command Centre.

Investment in comfort yields measurable outcomes, says Rashed Bilal Al Mas, Senior Manager at MBRSC, “The ergonomic solutions have made a clear difference in reducing fatigue and supporting better posture over long hours. This has enhanced overall productivity and well-being, helping the team maintain optimal performance during demanding tasks.”

The project has been recognised globally, winning 'Best Public Service Interior' at the 2025 International Property Awards and 'Best Office Design' at the 2025 CID Awards, affirming Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre's Command Control Centre as a new benchmark for high-performance work environments.
