The curved blade of the mezzaluna (half-moon) is the perfect kitchen tool to effortlessly slice through herbs and vegetables to achieve a perfectly minced pesto or deftly chopped sofrito, mincing steak tartare or slicing up your pizza or pasta dough.
The Savernake Knives Mezzaluna pair allows for precise chopping and mincing. Crafted from Takefu's 67-layer san mai, this mezzaluna's razor-sharp, curved blade is made from a core of VG10 at 60 HRC and slices through herbs, vegetables, and more with unmatched ease.
Crafted from English brown oak treated with resin for extra durability, the ergonomically designed handles ensure a comfortable grip, allowing you to chop for longer without fatigue. The two handle operation can also provide a safer option to introduce food preparation skills to children's hands without little fingers being in the way of a conventional knife blade.
The specially crafted cutting board is perfectly contoured to match the curve of the blade. The cutting surface is made from 18mm thick Richlite Slate, FSC-certified, food-safe and kind to your blade and a material that responds incredibly well to vigorous scrubbing, whilst the base of English brown oak has been lovingly oiled to within an inch of its life to pair with the Mezzaluna's handles.
Savernake founder and knife-maker, Laurie Timpson says, “As ever, we try to take a very simple concept and make as good a version of it as possible. This unique pairing ensures that every chop is smooth, efficient, and precise—no more uneven cuts or ingredients slipping away.”
