The first-ever u3a festival of learning, activity and fun will take place on 18-20 July 2024 at the Exhibition Centre at the University of York.

For over 42 years, the remarkable u3a has grown to 1,000 u3as with over 40,000 activity groups convening weekly throughout the UK, and a membership of over 400,000. The simple yet powerful aim is to unite individuals with leisure time and provide opportunities to establish new connections and immerse themselves in an array of fascinating subjects, skills, and activities.

u3a would like to invite their journalist friends to come along for the special press morning which will be taking place on Friday 19 July, when Diana Moran B.E.M, AKA 'The Green Goddess' will be officially opening the event.  The Lord Mayor of York will also be attending.

Festival 24 has a veritable treasure trove of superb events on the programme including jewellery making, sports, writing short stories, meditation, dance exercises, painting, life drawing, Pilates, Tai Chi and Qigong.  Up to 2,000 u3a members will be attending the Festival over the three days, enjoying over 100 activities. This is a largely member-led festival, with members choosing and leading the workshops and activities

On Press Day, on Friday 19 July, there will be up to 900 members attending over 100 activities.  We would love you to come along and join us in a glass of bubbly and some cake, and see for yourself all the benefits that members can enjoy from activities at u3a.
