Siematic's ID Contest Sets the Standard for Kitchen Design Quality and Creativity

The Westphalian kitchen manufacturer SieMatic, which has a presence in over 60 countries worldwide, is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, with the premiere of the SieMatic ID Contest. The competition for excellence in Kitchen Interior Design is geared to dealers, kitchen designers, planners and clients of SieMatic kitchens worldwide and will take place every two years in the future.

 

Successful premiere

The competition solicited completed kitchen designs and integrated open living spaces over the past four years that demonstrate exceptional design quality and creativity. More than 300 plans from 25 countries were submitted this year. "We are delighted that SieMatic's first ID Contest received such a tremendous and positive response. All the kitchen entries are fine examples of the high competence and quality of our partners and planners worldwide, who make every individual customer wish possible," says Ulrich W. Siekmann, CEO of SieMatic Möbelwerke. 

 

Four categories and numerous honours

The SieMatic style worlds PURE, URBAN and CLASSIC were the basis for the submission categories. There was a winner in each of the categories "Best of PURE", "Best of URBAN" and "Best of CLASSIC". The category "Best of the Best" was awarded to the most convincing submission. The jury awarded an additional 23 Honorable Mention awards for high quality kitchen designs showcasing impressive details.

The winning kitchen projects were globally inspired showcasing a diversity of design aesthetics:

  • SieMatic ID Contest "Best of the Best":
    Project 'N house' by Satoshi Kurosaki, Apollo Architects and Associates and SMW Japan from Tokyo, Japan
  • SieMatic ID Contest "Best of CLASSIC":
    Project 'Nelson Kitchen' by RAO Design Studio from Atlanta, USA
  • SieMatic ID Contest "Best of PURE":
    Project 'Königstein' by Krampe GmbH Küchenstudio from Kelkheim, Germany
  • SieMatic ID Contest "Best of URBAN":
    Project 'Het Boekendaalje' by Colette Dike from Bloemendaal and John van de Gevel, SieMatic at the Vondelpark from Amsterdam, Niederlande.

 

First-Class Judges

Winners were selected by an by an internationally recognized 8-member jury who are distinguished by their collective interior design competence and kitchen design expertise: Bettina Billerbeck, Chief Editor Schöner Wohnen and Ideat Germany; Mick De Giulio, Designer, De Giulio Kitchen Design; Karim El-Ishmawi, Architect, Kinzo Berlin; Alexander Geringer, Chief Editor H.O.M.E.; Amy Heffernan, Interiors Director Wallpaper; Thomas Helbing, Lead Editor Houzz Germany; Joern F. Kengelbach, Editor-in-Chief AW Architektur & Wohnen and Robb Report Germany; Ulrich W. Siekmann, CEO SieMatic Möbelwerke.

The winners were personally honored by Ulrich W. Siekmann along with the jury members at the festive awards ceremony during the SieMatic Interior Design Days 2019 in Löhne. Designed specifically for the ID Contest, the trophy resembles the unique recessed grip featuring finishes of the new SieMatic SLX PURE. It is also a tribute to the handle-free kitchen, invented by the premium brand SieMatic. The next SieMatic ID Contest will take place in 2021.
