Modern Souvenir Co is a re-invention of the traditional 'souvenir': models include bookends and paperweights, busts and buildings, architectural detail, silhouettes and medallions.
Modern Souvenir Co has chosen themes for today's travellers and collectors: architecture, history, literature, Kings and Queens, politicians and warriors. poets and playwrights. Models are made with meticulous accuracy and an injection of wit, to bring back memories, add lustre to interiors, make ideal gifts.
In the 18th and 19th centuries young gentlemen of means travelled around Europe soaking up culture on a Grand Tour (their 'gap year'). They bought paintings and sculpture, picked up pieces of antiquity.
Some travellers commissioned copies ('souvenirs' of the time) of Greek and Roman buildings from craftsmen such as père et fils Jean Pierre and François Fouquet, who worked in pre-revolutionary Paris. The Fouquet family made models, to be displayed under glass, for important collectors 'of the antique' Timothy Richards is the only living person continuing their skills, techniques and methods. These methods are unique to the Timothy Richards' workshops in Bath.
Modern Souvenir Co has dedicated a collection to the Palladian City of Bath. 2017 is the 250th anniversary of One Royal Crescent, its grandest Georgian terrace. An exhibition of Timothy Richards' architectural models continues until June 4, 2017

2017 is the Jane Austen bicentenary. Jane Austen lived in Bath from 1801-1806, where high society plotted, dined and danced.

Timothy Richards is the world's leading authority on making architectural models from plaster. In 2013 he won the Arthur Ross award for ' Artisanship and Craftsmanship' from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art. His bespoke models have been commissioned by academic institutions, owners of stately homes, industrial magnates around the world. UK Clients include the British Museum, English Heritage, Hever Castle, The Bodleian Library and Bath Abbey.
