The 'Power of Pattern' is an installation in our Islington showroom for the Islington Design District exploring the use of large scale colour and pattern in interiors. This collaboration with British brand Lewis & Wood features two designs by British artists alongside a collection of new pieces from Design Studio Zurich.
All the pieces we're launching during the festival feature Fenix, our new favourite material from Italy.
“We've used it on many new designs,” enthuses Adventures in Furniture director Kim Corbett, “Super tactile with great qualities in terms of heat, frost, scratch and stain resistance, Fenix is a wonder material."
The Edge table is closer to a work of art than a table with its slim profile, gently rounded ends and elegantly curved legs. Working closely with Ivo Hlavac of Design Studio Zurich, we designed the Edge table to be both aesthetically and physically light while incredibly strong. The combination of the solid oak base with the sleek, resilient Fenix top results in a super slim and very durable piece. The Edge is made in custom sizes with a variety of finishes and colours.
The Como extending table is a mastery of production incorporating hidden butterfly extensions to add seating in a variety of sizes, including custom measurements and finishes. The Como desk is perfectly formed with its sleek lift up top and roomy storage. All Como pieces are available in solid oak or walnut or can incorporate the durable and tactile Fenix top. We're also launching the Fenix material on our coveted Bianco extending table.
“We wanted to create something that was adaptable and slim but very strong, and both the Como and Edge collection reflect this. The design process is often collaborative for us – we start with the function and then focus on the shape,” says Kim. “We love working with our design partner Design Studio Zurich because their ethos 'The Consciousness of Things' is evident in all their designs and chimes with our own desire to create long lasting, beautiful and functional pieces."
Adventures in Furniture is an independent retailer with two London showrooms. With a network of workshops across Europe, we are able to bring customisation to the end user and are passionate about the provenance of everything we sell.
