Gtech joins the business elite as winners of a Queen's Award for Innovation

Champagne and cake greeted Gtech employees this morning as the Worcester-based design and manufacturing company celebrates winning a Queen's Award for Innovation, the UK's highest accolade for business success.
The award for Innovation is in recognition of the strong growth the company has enjoyed since 2012 when it launched its high performance, lightweight and cordless vacuum cleaner, AirRam. Consumers have embraced the AirRam's cordless technology and turnover has risen from £4m in 2011 to £47million at the 2014 year end. 2015 turnover is expected to be £70million.

“We feel very honoured to receive a Queen's Award,” said Gtech's founder and CEO, Nick Grey. “Our design and engineering team set out to change the way people vacuum their homes for ever when we designed the Gtech AirRam, and this is a fantastic reward for that effort.

“Gtech has grown from 20 to 65 employees in the last two years and the support they give the management team and I is second to none. Their dedication in designing high performance, cordless products and providing outstanding customer service makes me very proud. We will enjoy this moment and continue to work hard to honour the award for both our company and customers.”

The Gtech AirRam was developed by Nick Grey and his team in Spetchley. Gtech engineers worked through the fundamental challenges of cleaning a modern home. Their original approach took two years and a £1m investment in research and development to create the cordless freedom, unique design and patented technology that has proven extremely popular with consumers of all ages.
